About Us

Welcome to Empowering Pawz, Inc!

Empowering Pawz Rescue is focused on placing those less fortunate dogs in our local, overcrowded shelters into Foster Homes and Forever Homes to support the people and families that need it most.  Our Community Centric vision allows us to not only save those dogs who are less fortunate, but also support other groups and organizations through the love of a dog.  We partner with our veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, children and seniors to allow everyone in our communities to not only provide hope and love to these dogs, but get love in return.

Our Founder, Kara Cosby began our vision in November of 2023 and officially brought it to life in December of 2023. Through her time in the Rescue Community, but a life time of loving animals, Kara believed that there could be a strong need for not only the Animal Advocates/Shelters/Rescues to work together, but also to partner more strongly with our local community groups.

Kara's journey started out of love and remembrance from her late Rescue Boxer, Herky. Herky was part of a rescue group that gave him a chance that he may not otherwise have had.  This inspired Kara to want to do more, and she knew that by focusing on what was happening in our own communities we could make a difference, together.

Our Secretary/Directory, Angela Gulley has been helping the Foster Community for over 6 years. Angela has experience in fostering young puppies, high energy teens and sassy seniors.  Her level of experience and ability to provide TLC to all furry friends that come through her door is truly incredible and provides a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team.

Angela's passion started after a move from Ohio all by herself. She realized that by fostering dogs, not only was she giving these babies a chance at a better life, but also giving herself companionship and fulfillment of making a difference in a new place. Angela is a true advocate for those dogs less fortunate and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience to make us better.

Our Treasure/Director, Carly Dodge started her journey in the Rescue Community in 2023. She came into the foster/rescue world because of her LOVE for animals! While having a special needs dog, Carly
quickly became aware of its challenges, and this is where her love with the “underdogs” began. Carly then
adopted her current dog from a rescue who was severely abused, and his story broke her heart but his
progression into the dog he is today lit a fire in her. It was then, Carly realized the role she wanted to play in
trying to help as many animals as she could. Carly became very invested in the rescue world and seeking out where her place might be in it. Carly began fostering, and her life changed in so many ways. Carly truly believes that animals are a gift and that we are so blessed to have them in our lives, and too many times we don’t appreciate that gift.

Her goal through the rescue is to try and make as much of a difference as possible for all the “underdogs” out
there who deserve so much more.
